Hi Shelley,
I just got one of these for home use after using it and falling in love with it at our local YMCA.
I use a Wahoo Ticker X heart rate monitor that connects via ANT+ with no issues. Many people prefer not to use the chest strap monitors since wrist-based HRMs have become more available. The only thing that beats the accuracy of the chest strap HRMs is a hospital-grade EKG monitor, which I don’t have :-), and I want to monitor my heart rate much more accurately while running on the AirRunner than my wrist-based HRM.
I don’t know if an Apple Watch will connect to this machine since I’m a Garmin watch wearer. But this machine does have BLE connectivity, as well as ANT+.
