The Changes Made To 2021 CrossFit Open

One of the changes that have happened to CrossFit this year is the pushing back of the dates when it will start. The opens used to last five weeks, which have now been reduced to three.

Athletes who have issues with accessing equipment to train for the CrossFit can now participate under the equipment-free section of the completion. The only limiting rue to this section is that they will not be allowed to advance to the quarter-finals.

To make CrossFit more inclusive, adaptive athletes will be allowed to compete in CrossFit this year. These are the divisions that have been added and will follow the same age limitations as the other athletes:

  • Men and Women Adaptive: Upper Extremity
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Lower Extremity
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Neuromuscular
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Vision
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Short Stature
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Seated Athletes (with hip function)
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Seated Athletes (without hip function)
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Intellectual

There are many other changes made to the CrossFit rules. If you are interested in competing, then you should check out the rule book to figure out what new rules have been added. It will help you be better prepared to compete.

What Is the CrossFit Open 2021?

To understand the CrossFit Open, we first need to understand the CrossFit games. They began in 2007 as a way for athletes to measure their skills and put these scores against each other. The results would show you where you stand as an athlete. Since it started, the usual traditional sports like track, field, gymnastics, weightlifting, and even decathlon were known in advance. With each New Year, new events keep getting added to the list to make it more than just a competition to see who is fast, but to also test the participants’ endurance.

The CrossFit open takes place around the world. Participants submit their best scores in the categories mentions, and they are able to see what the other athlete scored. With each New Year, the top athletes are allowed to proceed into the quarter-final, then the semifinals. The main aim of the CrossFit open is to get the fittest man and fittest woman on earth.
