Your feet are your weapon when traveling or rucking, so taking care of them should be a priority. One of the ways to do that is to wear not only high-quality socks but also well-constructed ones. GORUCK spent more than two years exploring socks that could handle the demands they place on their feet and fulfill their standards of quality. They wore through pairs from every major sock brand, and no white-label partner was good enough, so they developed their own.

Merino Challenge Socks – only from GORUCK:

Merino Challenge Socks (Charcoal) The Merino wool has 11% nylon blend to help the merino wool maintain its shape and be more abrasion resistant. They don't stink and keep your feet dry.
Merino Challenge Socks (Black) The 89% Merino Wool holds antimicrobial, quick drying, and insulating properties. These socks don’t wear thin or lose their shape.

Merino Challenge Socks – Overview

The Merino Challenge Socks are made from 54% merino wool, 42% nylon, 4% spandex, and proudly 0% cotton. Merino wool is durable, soft, and won’t itch like classic wool. It is breathable and regulates body temperature, even when wet. Merino wool also naturally fights bacteria and resists stench, so you can wear them as often as you want without washing them after each use—saving you water and time. Nylon is one of the strongest, most durable synthetic fibers available.

There’s a reason GORUCK rucksacks are built out of CORDURA®. Fine nylon fiber has superior abrasion resistance, which also helps to lessen friction and avoid blisters. Spandex, also known as elastane, is the industry standard for stretch and durable elasticity. The right balance of spandex holds the shape and fit for the sock’s life without compromising durability. Merino Challenge Socks are not only made from high-quality materials but also went through rigorous construction.

The high-wear areas in the toes and heels are reinforced with extra nylon to decrease friction and add toughness, while the sock body is optimized with more merino for breathability, so your feet stay dry longer. More padding is added along the heel and ball of the foot, and the heel padding is extended up to the Achilles to give you a cushion where you need it while wearing boots like MACV-1. Extended arch support and a natural fit through the ankle and calf make it a comfortable sock that is not too tight and doesn’t slip over time and distance.
