Like the GR1 from GORUCK, but want a more premium edition? This might be the backpack for you – the GR1 x Carryology – Guerrilla X.
GORUCK and Carryology joined forces to bring you the exclusive and limited edition GR1 called the Guerrilla X. This is their first collaboration from a vision that started in 2008. Like other GORUCK rucksacks, the Guerilla X is also overbuilt with the world’s most technical fabric and ready to contend with any situation.
It’s a complicated name, but it gives a glimpse into the idea – combine the best of the GR1 from GORUCK with Carryology’s expertise on making packs.
Here it is:
GR1 x Carryology – Guerrilla X – Overview
GORUCK and Carryology took the classic, iconic GR1 and added to it the inspiration from a fictional warrior from hundreds of years in the future, Guerilla X. To complement this futuristic dream, finding the most futuristic high-performance material on earth is the next step. With this, Dyneema® appeared in the picture. Dyneema® is 40% stronger than its main rival Kevlar and 15 times stronger than steel.
The force of Dyneema® gives it a crazy high tear strength, around five times higher than a like-for-like fabric made using HT-Nylon. The fabric is also heavier than the usual Dyneema fabric you see and lighter than 1000D Cordura. The GR1 x Carryology – Guerrilla X comes both in 21L and 26L and highlights the new “sunglasses” pocket and with a limited edition 3″ x 2″ laser-etched titanium patch made from Marc Mummert of Mummert Knives. It is made of a LoVis exterior with HiVis interior to give distinction so you can locate items easier, especially in the dark.
Honestly, I’d like to see the blaze orange interior be an option on the regular GR1.
The GR1 x Carryology – Guerrilla X uses YKK zippers with quiet, glove-friendly zipper pulls built from parachute 550 cord. It has multiple internal pockets – one large elastic pocket, one large mesh zippered pocket, and one small go-to pocket. The removable, rigid plastic frame sheet supports the laptop compartment and enables you to carry more weight easily. The straps are an essential part of a rucksack, and it’s good to know that the shoulder straps are extra padded lined with 500D Cordura lines on the inside and top handle so you can carry heavier loads more conveniently.
This clearly isn’t targeted to the hardcore rucking and fitness market – but that’s OK. We need good backpacks for travel too.
