Nike Metcon 8 Premium – Women’s – Overview

Metcon 8 is perfect for lifters, athletes who do a lot of cross-training, people with wider feet, and those who want to customize their shoes. It delivers a smooth, responsive ride and makes a comfortable, cushioned base that feels lightweight and springy. Those who do deadlifts, squats, and Olympic lifts like the clean and jerk and snatch will love the stability of Metcon 8 as it gives you a super planted feeling on the platform. Like the earlier version, Metcon 8 still uses the Nike React foam that is soft and comfortable during cardio and sprints.

The difference between Metcon 8 and Metcon 7 is in their upper construction. Metcon 7 has a chainlink mesh, while Metcon 8 has textured synthetic overlays in high-wear areas to help keep your foot cool. Another is their lace-locking mechanism. Metcon 7 has Velcro on the top and bottom of the tongue, while Metcon 8 has it only on the top. Lastly, Metcon 7 has a mid-foot rope guard for added grip during rope climbs, while Metcon 8 has a rubber that wraps around your arch during intense rope climbs. The rubber tread gives you traction and helps you stay on your feet when transitioning from the training room floor to the pavement.

Metcon 8 has a wide, flat heel that gets even more stable with an inner plate that distributes weight from side to side. It also flexes to make it comfortable for cardio and sprints. It has a handstand clip at the heel that helps minimize drag during wall exercises, and grooves in the sole let your forefoot bend naturally. The premium version of Metcon 8 allows you to sport it in glitter and glam. The Swoosh, heel strap logo, and lace aglet are metallic copper, while the rubber outsole displays a glitter finish. The sockliner is also metallic, while the webbing loop is fashioned with metallic gold.
