To test this product, we got hands-on and in-depth (with a different set of colors that came out earlier in the year.

Here’s what we found:

The super breathable upper from the Metcon 6 was disposed of, but the rope wrap still plays a big part in the shoe. It has a tough wrap-around at the midfoot that allows you to get an excellent grip while climbing ropes.

It also protects the shoe from getting ripped at the same time. The outsole is all rubber and is very grippy to give you the maximum contact area on the gym floor.

The heel is a mixture of the minimalistic midsole and a rigid plate, making it very firm. Because it is less cushioned, repeated and continuous jarring impacts of sprinting, running, jump rope, and box jumps are not that recommended.

New Nike Metcon 7 Colors from Rogue – Overview

The Nike Metcon 7 is more rigid and more stable than the earlier versions making it the gold standard for weight training. It now uses the soft and springy Nike React foam that is squishy and durable for excellent comfort. It is tested against other running foams and proved that the Nike React foam is superior in energy return to Nike Lunarlon foam by 13%.

The shoe has a wide, flat, and flexible heel that includes an inner plate that disperses weight from side to side for enhanced stability, while the updated rubber wraps along the arch to deliver better traction on rope climbs. Metcon 7 has a lightweight mesh, and strategically textured overlays keep your feet cool without sacrificing durability.

The rubber tread on the outsole and up the side of the shoe delivers directional traction from the training room floor to the pavement, and Flywire cables combine with the laces to fasten the midfoot. It also has a handstand clip that decreases wall friction for fast HSPUs.
