GR1 Black Multicam – Overview

The GR1 backpack is American-made, constructed using GORUCK construction methods proven by Special Forces soldiers in the extreme environments on earth. This makes the GR1 the toughest rucksack ever built. It is created from 1000 Denier Cordura and is the choice material for all Special Forces rucks because it is resistant to the harshness of everything, including war. Because it opens flat, the bag is easier to pack, organize, and find something when on the go.

This rucksack has a similar design as the Special Forces medical rucks. It has additional padded shoulder straps, and a top handle to carry heavier loads more comfortably. The GR1 has a Bombproof Laptop Compartment next to your back that is extra reinforced with a false bottom. The removable, rigid plastic frame sheet stabilizes the laptop compartment and allows you to carry more weight easily.

GR1 has one large elastic pocket, one large mesh zippered pocket, and one small go-to pocket inside the bag. Outside the bag is a slant pocket for quick access to keys, snacks, and other small items. Three rows of external and internal MOLLE webbing let you customize your GR1. This ruck is highly water resistant, TSA Compliant, and fits under the seat in front of you.

How many calories does rucking burn? That’s a great question – you certainly know you are working harder when you walk for long distances with a heavily loaded backpack (rucksack) on your back. But, can we put some hard numbers to this? Yes, we can. Here’s results from testing I’m doing – measuring calorie burn (via heart rate monitoring) at a variety of distances, loads, and paces.
