Nike Metcon 8 AMP – Overview
Though its performance is the same, the latest version of Nike Metcon 8 has a fancier and upgraded look. It is $10 higher than the regular Metcon 8 and adds a unique look if you want to boost your style. Finding light in the darkness is the theme of Metcon 8 AMP and got its inspiration from the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere. The sun appears at a 30-degree angle of east and west when it rises and sets. Similarly, when studying the Metcon 8, Nike found the perfect angle for squatting ranges from 10 to 30 degrees.
The gradient, angled at 30 degrees, goes from light to dark on the midsole and back from darkness to light to mimic the sun rising and setting during the solstice. This shoe uses the Nike React technology, making the shoe lightweight with a more breathable upper than the earlier edition. This gives you a smooth, responsive ride and a comfortable, cushioned base that feels springy. With the inner plate, the wide, flat heel becomes more stable, and the weight is adequately distributed from side to side.
The rubber tread gives you traction and helps you stay on your feet when transitioning from the training room floor to the pavement, while the grippy rubber wraps around your arch during intense rope climbs. The lightweight mesh with textured overlays in high-wear areas helps keep your foot cool without losing durability. Metcon 8 AMP has a handstand clip at the heel that helps lessen drag during wall exercises and Flywire cables that merge with the laces to secure your midfoot. The tab locks down the laces with a hook-and-loop closure to help keep them out of the way, while the grooves in the sole let your forefoot bend naturally.
